Donor Advised Funds

For those of you who have not yet heard, EIF welcomes two new additions, Laurie Siegel and Genelyn Arante, to the Industry Relations/Special Events department. Laurie Siegel, our new Associate Director, comes to us from Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. There she served as Senior Development Officer of Major Gifts and Special Events, securing major gifts and sponsorships and coordinating events. Prior to that her events background includes Susan Magrino Agency in New York, where she launched product lines, store openings and produced events for the agency's clients including Martha Stewart, Ciroc Vodka, Dom Perignon, Harper's Bazaar and Entertainment Weekly among others. Starting her career in Washington, D.C., Laurie worked for Campbell, Peachey & Associates, an events planning firm where she helped coordinate many events including, the Kennedy Center Honors, Christmas in Washington and events at the White House and Smithsonian Museums.

As you may already know, Dennis Riley has moved on to pursue a tremendous opportunity working for high-end floral artist Eric Buterbaugh. Although Dennis will be greatly missed, we wish him all the best of luck in his pursuit. In his place, we welcome Genelyn Arante who assumes the position of volunteer coordinator in addition to serving as Cathy James' assistant. Genelyn's various entertainment experience ranges from working on special events for the Museum of Television and Radio to promoting music for leading independent radio promoter Jeff McClusky & Associates, breaking new bands like Maroon 5, Linkin Park and established artists such as U2 and Madonna. Prior to that, Genelyn also had a brief stint doing publicity for Harrison & Shriftman.

Please join us in welcoming, Laurie and Genelyn!

Sak's 5th Avenue's "Unforgettable Evening" Benefiting Women's Cancer Research Fund

On March 1st Sak's 5th Avenue and the Women's Cancer Research Fund, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, hosted its annual "Unforgettable Evening" event at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. This year the Courage Award was given to Lance Armstrong and the Nat King Cole award was presented to Darlene Daggett, QVC President of US Commerce and Joseph C. Moore, President of FFANY.

The year's event was a success, raising $1.8 million to help fund EIF's WCRF Biomarker Discovery Project, one of the most exciting and ambitious scientific projects today. This endeavor is being lead by 16 world-class scientists, including several Nobel Laureates, whose aim is to identify molecular signals in the blood that can provide diagnostic information to detect cancer in its earliest stages, when it is highly curable.

The event was hosted by WCRF honorary chairs Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks and Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg, along with WCRF founders Kelly Chapman Meyer, Anne Douglas, Quinn Ezralow, Marion Laurie and Jamie Tisch.

Performances at the gala included a stand-up routine by actor/comedian Robin Williams and an acoustic set by Grammy winner Sheryl Crow. Other celebrities in attendance included: Natalie Cole, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox Arquette, David Arquette, Jay and Mavis Leno, Kirk Douglas, Claudia Schiffer, Jamie Lynn DiScala and many others.

The Entertainment Industry Foundation would like to give special thanks to all the volunteers who supported this year's event by helping with the prep and stuffing of the gift bags, in addition to those who assisted as PR escorts at the event. It was such a great pleasure and so much fun working with you. And I look forward to seeing you again with our other events in the near future.
